Below is the feedback from some of our customers and is just another reason why you should choose us for a Walk, Course or Challenge.
Two day Bronze course
Just returned from the 2 day Bronze award course and can't recommend it highly enough. John handled four menopausal ladies with great ease and skill and his friendly manner is just lovely. Somehow we managed to exceed the level of the bronze award and covered the silver course as well so he must be doing something right! The course covers all the basics of map reading and compass skills and leaves you able to confidently plan and complete any walk using an OS map and compass. The Simonside hills and surrounding areas are simply stunning and even the weather was perfect for hiking. Thank you John for your time and hopefully our (hiking) paths will cross again in future.
One day Navigation Course
Amazing day from Rothbury to Simonside and back on a navigation course. John is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher, especially for someone like me who's never read a map in my life!! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone
One day navigation course
My friend Cath & I had a great day last weekend learning to navigate accurately using a map & compass up in The Cheviots west of Wooler. We walked a good ten miles with John Leightly who guided & taught us new skills in a relaxed & non patronising way. We have both done a lot of walking with maps in the past but this really helped us look at the map in a much more detailed & helpful way. Having both turned 60 last year & planning to do a lot more walking this was invaluable knowledge & we probably should have done it years ago rather than staggering around the hills thinking we knew what we were doing!
Many thanks John!
One day Navigation Course
My wife, son and I had an excellent day in the Simonside Hills near Rothbury learning navigation skills. Great day with John, who explained everything very clearly and we took it in turns to lead and improve our skills throughout the day. Time passed too quickly and we enjoyed a drink in the Turks Head at the end of the day. Would recommend to anyone who wants to begin or brush up on navigation skills. Plenty of information weeks beforehand and it was easy to keep in touch, via email, prior to attending the course. John is a very good teacher and explained everything in a straightforward manner.
Thanks again I'm sure we will see you many times again in the future.
One day Navigation Course
Had a totally fantastic one day navigational course, bought for me as a prezzie from my bezzie! John was amazing! Motivational, encouraging, personable and above all very, very, very patient with two people who were clueless to map reading!!! Had a fantastic day with lots of laughs but came home with lots of knowledge! Would most definitely recommend john and definitely book again!
I have had such a fabulous day! the Ingram valley walk was so lovely and peaceful, fabulous views and also very energising. I had been worried that I might not be fit enough to keep pace with the group on todays walk but the pace was great, I met a lovely group of people and I never felt stretched beyond my limits as the group always considered my needs. I can't believe that we covered 9.3 miles as it passed so quickly! It was very reassuring to have an experienced walker leading the group John especially as my navigation skills aren't up to scratch yet! I am really looking forward to next time. Thank you, and thanks to the group for today, it was wonderful!
Just wanted to thank you again for our fab walk today in Ingram Valley. The scenery was breathtaking and the walk was brilliant, not too strenuous but it still felt like we had the best workout. Who needs a gym when you can pull on your walking boots and enjoy this beautiful county of ours?!!
It was lovely to finally visit Linhope Spout which I have heard about for years but never actually got round to visiting. I am certainly going to try and recruit a few more to join us on your next walk.
I really enjoyed everyone's company and felt that people of all walking abilities and experience were well catered for. Our lunch at the Granby, Longframlington was lovely too.
All in all a fantastic day out.......bring on the next one!!
If you want to be less of a couch potato then join the walks on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, which all take place locally in south east Northumberland, they are a good way of getting some exercise with a nice group of people. Sometimes they end at a pub which is a bonus. If you are fitter and can cope with climbing hills in the Cheviots then there are tailor made walks organized and navigated by John. They are informative and good fun and the pace is relaxing, not too quick or too slow and certainly gets your heart rate increasing. Join Navigate Northumberland and have some fun in the lovely county of Northumberland.
Very enjoyable and a good foundation to help progress our walking into the hills and the unknown! Great communicator, friendly and really patient! Thanks very much John – we may be back to get our bearings with bearings.
